This year’s initial 2013 Second Saturday Community Market featuring live music, family activities, food and vendors of the homemade and hand-raised variety is May 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Meadville Market House.
More than 30 vendors and exhibitors line the Market House plaza, showcasing everything from artisan cheeses to zoological wonders, all from within a 75-mile radius of Meadville.
Renowned musician Greg Garing and his folksy progressive bluegrass band The Gem City Grass performs from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., with singer/songwriter Matt Texter (9 to 10:30 a.m.) and the Celtic-bluegrass band Glenwood Hillbillies (12:30 to 2 p.m.) rounding out the program.
Magic Steve takes center stage for two performances at 10:30 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Crowd favorite Squeeze the Clown will also be on hand, delighting the young and old with her antics from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Meadville’s monthly celebration of all things local returns this summer from May to September with new festivities alongside old favorites. Hosted by Meadville Council on the Arts, the outdoor markets are open rain or shine. The event includes free admission and parking.
