MEADVILLE — Emergency reponders pulled a woman from a vehicle she wedged between a utility pole and Cargo Cleaners on North Street Friday afternoon.

Meadville firefighters spent at least 12 minutes cutting apart the right side of the woman’s car to place her on a stretcher and transport her from the scene via Meadville Ambulance.

Local bystanders reported seeing the woman attempting to turn right from Garden Street onto North Street when a speeding SUV cut her off at approximately 2:30 p.m.

An emergency medical technician at the scene said the woman pressed the accelerator instead of the brake and crashed into the front exterior of Cargo Cleaners and part of the Pittsburgh Sandwich Company.

City police directed traffic around the accident between North Street’s intersections with North Main Street and Garden Street.

There is no word yet regarding the woman’s condition.
