MEADVILLE — A Meadville area woman is scheduled to stand trial in Crawford County Court of Common Pleas on charges she misappropriated more than $15,000 from her former employer.

On Tuesday, Kathleen E. Kempf, 59, of 14064 Dickson Road, Meadville, waived her right to a preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge William Chisholm and automatically was bound over to the next term of court on two counts each of theft by unlawful taking and two counts of theft by failure to make required disposition of funds.

Meadville Police Department filed the charges against Kempf for allegedly taking money from Pioneer Medical Associates between Jan. 1, 2011, and April 2013.

According to the criminal complaint filed in connection with the case, Kempf, while having control of the payroll of Pioneer Medical Associates of Meadville, allegedly took $8,084 by paying herself excessive vacation and sick time during the period July 2011 through April 2013. During the same period, Kempf also allegedly took $7,284.44 from Pioneer by reimbursing herself through a petty cash fund for items that she had purchased using Pioneer funds and not her own.

Kempf remains free on $2,500 bond pending her trial.

She is scheduled to go to trial during the January 2014 term of Crawford County criminal court.
