Described as a “Conversation with Mark Russell,” tickets for the April 4 show are on sale now. Cost is $25 and can be purchased at the Crawford County Convention and Visitors Bureau or by calling the Baldwin-Reynolds House at 333-9882. The show is at 7:30 p.m. at Ford Chapel, Allegheny College.
For those wishing to meet Russell personally, he will be guest at a reception at the Baldwin-Reynolds House at about 9 p.m. following the show. Tickets for the private reception also are $25 and may be purchased at the above locations as well.
All proceeds are used for upkeep of the Baldwin-Reynolds House, which was home to a Supreme Court Justice Henry Baldwin.
Sidebar about 50th anniversary events
In addition to the Mark Russell program, Crawford County Historical Society has a number of special events planned to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Baldwin-Reynolds House in operation. Most, if not all, of the events will be held at the Baldwin-Reynolds House and require reservations in advance. Seated is also limited for a number of events. n From April 4 through Aug. 10, there will be a special exhibit with the Downton Abbey theme. Tickets, $1 each, go on sale April 4.
n On April 20, a Civil War quilt lecture will be held for $8 per person with a limit of 40 people.
n On May 18 and 19, a Civil War Weekend is planned. The 150th Bucktail Reenactors will spend will training during the event. May 18 will include a Civil War tea. Cost is $20 per person.
n June 1 is Community Day. Admission will be free from noon to 4 p.m. to give the community an opportunity to see current and future improvements.
n From June 22 through Aug. 10 will be “Abbey Attire: The Fashions of Downton Abbey.” Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children.
n On June 22, a “Fashionable Luncheon” will be featured in conjunction with the “Abbey Attire” exhibit. Cost is $20 per person.
n “Summer Movies on the Lawn” will be featured; more information will be announced as plans are completed.
n A “Summer Lawn Concert” is set for July 25, featuring The Pick-a-longs, one of Meadville’s favorite folk bands.
n On July 27, a “Garden Party” is planned. The society will have a traditional garden party luncheon on the balcony followed by a tour and program by museum director Joshua Sherretts. Cost is $20.
n On Aug, 10, a “Downton Concert” will be featured. Tickets cost $8 each.
n In September, the society will host “Antique Discovery Day” with Colleene Fesko of Antiques Roadshow. A date and location will be released shortly.
n On Oct. 18 to 20, the Academy Theatre will provide a murder-mystery. More information and prices will be announced shortly.
n On Nov. 29 and 30, “Fezziwig’s Christmas Party, A Christmas Carol,” will be featured. Cost for this event is $25 per person.
n On Dec. 27 is the museum’s 50th Anniversary Gala. The museum officially turns 50 on that date. Tickets are $35 per person. Major sponsors for the museum’s 50th anniversary season receive complementary tickets.
