NEW LOCAL: Police search for roadside assailant

UNION TOWNSHIP, Erie County — A Titusville area man sustained a minor stab wound to his leg when he was attacked early this morning along Route 8 in eastern Erie County, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Corry.

Charles Schlicht, 57, was walking along the berm of Route 8, north of Union City, at 4:30 a.m. today when a man in a dark-colored late 1990s-style pickup truck stopped and offered Schlicht a ride, police said.

As Schlicht was about to get in the truck, the man got out of the truck and stabbed Schlicht on the back side of his right thigh, police said. The man, described as Caucasian and in his 30s, then got back into the truck and drove away south on Route 8.

Schlicht sustained a small cut on his thigh and was evaluated at the scene by personnel from Emergycare Ambulance, police said.
