Intersection to be closed as part of North Street project

At 7 a.m. Monday the intersection of Liberty and North streets in downtown Meadville will close as part of the Route 27/North Street Improvement Project.

While the intersection is closed — likely for at least a week — it will be reconstructed with new concrete.

During the week crews will also work on storm sewer replacement at the intersection of Liberty and North streets, curb installation between Garden and Liberty streets and installation of new traffic signal equipment at the intersection of Market and North streets.

During this week North Street will remain closed between Liberty and Garden streets.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s multi-million-dollar Route 27/North Street Improvement Project began in late April 2013 and is expected to be complete this summer. The work is being done to provide easier access for commercial traffic through the high-volume Route 27-North Street corridor and to beautify the area.

Additional information can be found at the project’s website northstreetproject.info.
