NEW LOCAL: Canadian earthquake doesn't shake northwest Pennsylvania much


MEADVILLE — An earthquake this morning near Canada’s capital of Ottawa reverberated into northwest Pennsylvania.

The 4.4 magnitude earthquake happened at 9:43 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time was centered 6.1 miles down in the earth, 42 miles northwest of Ottawa and about 12 miles north-northeast of Shawville, Ontario, the closest city, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

No damage was reported in Crawford County, according to the county’s 911 Center.
