SUMMIT TOWNSHIP — Conneaut Lake Park’s famed Blue Streak roller coaster broke down tonight with its passenger cars stuck on a hill.

Summit Township and Conneaut Lake Park volunteer fire departments have been called to the wooden roller coaster for a rescue operation, according to emergency radio traffic from the Crawford County 911 Center. Calls for the fire departments began around 9:10 p.m.

Emergency radio reports from the scene indicate the roller coaster’s cars were stuck on a hill with 24 people aboard. There have been no reports of any injuries.

The Blue Streak, Conneaut Lake Park’s premier attraction, is marking its 75th anniversary this year.

The roller coast dates from 1938 and is one of two wooden roller coasters by famed roller coaster designer Ed Vettel that still is operating in the U.S.
