Two-year-old Meadville girl drowns

SPRINGBORO — A 2-year-old Meadville girl drowned Saturday afternoon in a residential swimming pool in Springboro.

The toddler was visiting her grandparents at 164 Lincoln St. when she wandered off at about 3:30 p.m. and was quickly discovered in the family’s above-ground pool, according to Crawford County Coroner Scott Schell.

Schell said CPR was performed on the child immediately. She was then transported to Meadville Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.

Schell said the cause of death is asphyxiation due to drowning and that the death has been ruled accidental.

White-Cool Funeral Home, 1405 Main St., Conneautville, has been entrusted to handle arrangements, Schell said.
