North Street Project meeting tonight

MEADVILLE — Tonight's meeting to discuss the North Street Improvement Project in downtown Meadville begins at 6 p.m. at Economic Progress Alliance Conference Center, 764 Bessemer St., Meadville. The public is invited to attend the two-hour session hosted by Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the project's general contractor, Joseph McCormick Construction Co. Inc. of Erie.

The 18-month, $10 million project will upgrade North Street, one of Meadville’s busiest thoroughfares, from its starting point at Water Street to slightly beyond the State Street intersection. The project will include intersection improvements, roadway reconstruction, traffic signal upgrades and drainage improvements. Before work begins on all that, however, the Meadville Area Sewer Authority’s 100-year old clay sewer line running 10 to 12 feet below the road surface along the center line of the roadway will be replaced.

Representatives from PennDOT, McCormick and the City of Meadville will be on hand.

Anyone requiring special assistance or information concerning the meeting should contact Joseph Hosey at or at (814) 899-3111.
