SANDYCREEK TOWNSHIP, Venango County — A Pennsylvania state senator from Venango County and his wife weren’t injured in a crash late Friday afternoon on Route 8 in Venango County, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Franklin.

State Sen. Scott Hutchinson, 52, of Oil City was driving south on Route 8 in Sandycreek Township, Venango County when the 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee he was driving was struck in the right side by another southbound vehicle driven by a juvenile boy at 4:35 p.m., according to state police. The accident scene is south of the city of Franklin.

The juvenile was driving a 2007 Nissan Versa in the right southbound lane when it traveled into the left southbound lane, striking the side of Hutchinson’s vehicle, police said.

Hutchinson and a front seat passenger, his wife, Mary Beth, 49, both were wearing seat belts and weren’t injured, police said.

The name of the driver of the Nissan Versa wasn’t released by state police because he is under age 18. Police said that driver will be charged with several violations.

Hutchinson, a Republican from Oil City, represents the 21st Senate District which covers all of Venango, Clarion and Forest counties and parts of Butler and Warren counties.
