Meadville meth maker Lamonde sentenced to jail time

MEADVILLE — A Meadville man has been sentenced in the Crawford County Court of Common Pleas to serve up to almost two years in the Crawford County jail in connection with a methamphetamine-making laboratory in the city.

Louis W. Lamonde Jr., 29, was sentenced Monday by President Judge Anthony Vardaro to one year minus one day to two years minus one day in county jail with 185 days credit for time already served.

Lamonde pleaded guilty Oct. 24 in county court to a charge of possessing the chemicals used to manufacture methamphetamine. Meadville police filed the charge June 14 in connection with a methamphetamine operation at a home Lamonde was renting on Smith Street.

In addition to the jail time, Vardaro ordered Lamonde to pay a fine of $200 and court costs.

Initially, Meadville police charged Lamonde and Devanie Coudriet, 33, with one count each of possessing chemicals to be used in the manufacture of methamphetamine; conspiring to manufacture methamphetamine; and conspiring to possess precursors and chemicals, all on or around the dates of May 1 through June 14 of this year; and illegal dumping of methamphetamine waste on or about June 12 by depositing a methamphetamine precursor into the garbage can at the Smith Street address.

However, in a plea bargain with the Crawford County District Attorney’s Office, all of Lamonde’s charges but the possessing chemicals charge were dropped in exchange for his guilty plea.

Lamonde had faced up to 47 years in jail and $240,000 in fines, if he had been convicted in county on all charges.

Meanwhile, Coudriet remains jailed in lieu of bond awaiting trial in Crawford County Court of Common Pleas on all four Meadville police charges filed against her.
