Heavy rains cause flooding, shut roads

Area under flood watch through 4 p.m.

MEADVILLE — Serious heavy rain this morning and expected through today have left low lying areas flooded and some roads closed. The area remains through a flood watch through 4 p.m.

Route 102 in Vernon Township is closed due to flooding from the intersection of Mercer Street to the intersection of Dunham Road.

And in Meadville, manhole covers have been popping off of storm sewers due to the heavy flow of water.

Motorists and those living near water, streams and creeks are advised to remain alert.
