Severe thunderstorm, flash flood warnings issued for Crawford County

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Crawford and Erie counties, according to the National Weather Service in Cleveland.

The warning runs until 9 p.m. At 7:56 p.m., NWS Doppler radar indicated severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. These storm were located along a line extending from 22 miles northwest of Erie to Girard to eight miles south of Albion to Linesville, moving east at 50 mph.

Locations of impact include Meadville, Cambridge Springs, Spartansburg and Titusville in Crawford County and Erie, Edinboro, Waterford, Union City, North East and Corry in Erie County.

Also, a flash flood warning for Crawford County is in effect until midnight. A spotter report five miles east of Conneautville confirmed over an inch of rain in 15 minutes recently. Radar estimates confirm heavy rainfall at the rate of 1.5 to 2 inches per hour.

Locations of flash flood impact include but are not limited to Meadville, Titusville and Spartansburg.

Early reports of downed trees and wires throughout Crawford County have come across emergency radio traffic from the Crawford County 911 Center. Various departments have been dispatched to help with the downed trees and wires.
