No injuries reported in Crawford County after Tuesday night's storms

More storms expected tonight

Just about every community in Crawford County felt the power of Tuesday night’s storm system which led to reports of funnel clouds and flash flooding well into the evening, according to Allen Clark, director of the county Emergency Management Agency.

Clark released an incident status summary in regards to the thunderstorm and tornado warnings, which expired at around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

No injuries were reported, but the summary included minimal damage to some flooded roads, downed trees and scattered debris in numerous municipalities.

A total 642 residents in Crawford County were estimated to have experienced power outages between utility companies Penelec and Northwestern Rural Electric Company, according to the summary.

Penelec continued to investigate and work on outages into Wednesday afternoon, according to the company’s website.

Some county residents had water pumped out of their basements and hail was reported in Hayfield, Woodcock and Summerhill townships as well as Conneautville, the summary reported.

Municipal crews and fire departments worked throughout Tuesday evening, clearing debris, cutting downed trees, setting roadblocks for flooded roads and pumping basements all throughout the county, Clark said.

No evacuations or mass shelters were required, but county residents should be watchful and seek out appropriate shelter whenever the National Weather Service posts a severe weather warning, he added.

National Weather Service warnings were canceled by this afternoon, but the NWS hazardous weather outlook pointed to a strong possibility of severe thunderstorms through this evening. No severe weather is expected Thursday or Friday, however.
