Wine and Brew Walk to benefit local United Way

MEADVILLE — After bringing in more than $6,000 for last year’s event, the United Way of Western Crawford County holds its second annual Wine and Brew Walk on May 10 from 4 to 7 p.m., beginning and ending at the Downtown Mall in Meadville.

The following downtown Meadville stops on the walk with their respective brewery or winery include @ The Bank, Nova Cellars; Bush Investment Group, Lago Inn and Winery; Chamber of Commerce, Blue Canoe Brewery; DJB, Fractured Grape Wine Cellars; Jeron’s Jewelry, Elk Mountain Winery; Voodoo Brewery; Confections of a Cupcake Lover, Bee Kind Winery; The Academy Theatre, Presque Isle Wine Cellars; Chestnut Street Pub and Grill, Erie Beer; and Downtown Mall, Timber Creek and Mazza Vineyards

Food stops include Julian’s, Mickey’s, Park Avenue Cinema and 1776, a new restaurant in Meadville. Merchant stops include Chateau Christine.

Each participant is given a tasting glass, bracelet and map. Those who get their map stamped at each location is eligible for door prize drawings at 7 p.m. at the Downtown Mall. Music is provided by Joe Vilkie of Cool 101.7 FM.

Last year’s inaugural event raised more than $6,000 for United Way of Western Crawford County’s partner agencies and the United Way Community Improvement Center.

“This event was a huge success for us last year,” said Amy Rectenwald, executive director of the United Way. “We anticipate an even greater turnout this year with the added stops and wineries. We are also excited to be able to offer wine purchasing onsite and a wine check.”

Cost is $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event. Participants must show proof of age (21 years or older) at registration.

A limited number of tickets are still available — a total of 400 are sold. Tickets may be purchased at or at the United Way’s 415 Chestnut St. location.
