$200K paving contract awarded for Crawford County Care Center

MEADVILLE — A Mercer County paving contractor is the apparent low bidder to repave the parking lot area at the Crawford County Care Center in Saegertown.

Sharon Paving of Sharpsville was the lowest of five bidders on the contract to rehabilitate the parking lot at the county-owned skilled-care nursing home.

Sharon Paving bid $263,500 to repair and repave the parking lot; construct concrete curb ramps and sidewalks; and furnish and install new storm water inlets, storm sewers, signs and pavement markings.

Bids for the project, which were opened Tuesday, ranged from $263,500 to $339,883.27. Bids are subject to review by EADS Group, the county’s engineer, and Ted Watts, the county’s attorney. EADS had estimated the project at $320,000.

Crawford County commissioners are expected to act on awarding the contract at their meeting Thursday.

If approved, work on the project must be completed within 45 days of a notice to proceed.
