Meadville Medical Center buys Vernon facility

VERNON TOWNSHIP — Meadville Medical Center has purchased the building and land in Vernon Township that is home to its urgent care center and a medical lab.

The hospital completed the transaction earlier this spring purchasing the property at 16332 Conneaut Lake Road from previous owners Thomas B. Anderson and Colleen Anderson of Franklin for $900,000, according to the deed recorded with the Crawford County Register and Recorder’s Office.

Prior to buying the building, the medical center had been renting it from the Andersons for the past few years, according to Rene Suntay, Meadville Medical Center’s chief financial officer.

Demand for the hospital’s laboratory and non-emergency medical treatment services has grown in the past few years, he said.

Meadville ExpressCare Vernon is a physician- and nurse-staffed, walk-in clinic with direct communication to Meadville Medical Center if more substantive care is needed.

Meadville Medical Center Vernon Lab provides laboratory services on an outpatient basis.

Suntay said it made economic sense for the hospital to acquire the property as the lease had expired and the rent on the property was going to be raised.

There are no immediate plans to make any changes to the building, he added.
