Interstate 90 eastbound closed after truck hits bridge

ERIE COUNTY —  Interstate 90 eastbound in Erie County is closed from the Ohio/Pennsylvania line to Exit 3 (Route 6N, West Springfield) due to damage to an overhead bridge.

The portion of eastbound I-90 is to remain closed until an inspection and damage assessment can be completed on the Pond Road Bridge, which carries traffic over Interstate 90 in Springfield Township.

A steel beam on the Pond Road Bridge was damaged when it was struck by an overheight truck and could pose a safety hazard to traffic in the eastbound lanes.

The Pond Road Bridge has also been closed.

During the closure, eastbound traffic on I-90 is being detoured onto Ohio Route 7 to Route 20, then to Route 6N and return to I-90 at Exit 3.
