Saturday night crash claims life of Springboro man

SPRING TOWNSHIP — A Springboro area man was killed in a one-car crash Saturday night on Route 18 just south of Springboro, according to Pennsylvania State Police at Meadville.

Jeremy Byrd, 22, was driving south on Route 18 in Spring Township at a high rate of speed when he lost control of his car while traveling through standing water on the road, police said.

The car struck a culvert, flipped onto its roof and stopped with its back end against a residence, police said.

Byrd was pronounced dead at the scene of the 8:53 p.m. crash by Scott Schell, Crawford County coroner. Byrd wasn’t wearing a seat belt, police said.
