A variety of office equipment and other related items belonging to Conneaut Lake Park will be sold at a sheriff sale Jan. 3 at 2 p.m. to pay for a bill owed to Sysco Food Services of Philadelphia.

Among items to be sold are a surveillance camera system, a five-piece desk unit, a copier, a fax machine, three filing cabinets, three air conditioners, a conference table and six chairs, two computers and 10 office chairs.

Sysco filed a judgment June 6 against the park for $3,132.81 owed for purchases.

Since the judgment hadn’t been paid, the company chose to proceed to sheriff sale.

At a sheriff sale, items are put up for live auction. Proceeds will be used to pay off the judgment and any leftover funds will go to the park.

The 115-year-old amusement park was closed in May when there was no money to open for the season. The new board of Trustees of Conneaut Lake Park was appointed in July and opened the Beach Club in August. The board also opened the park’s Hotel Conneaut for several late-summer weekends before it was closed by the Sadsbury Township zoning officer because of a problem with the fire escape.

The Beach Club was closed for the season at the end of October.

In the meantime, the trustees have sought proposals for leasing all or parts of the park. Jack Moyers, chairman of the board, wasn’t available Wednesday to comment on the sheriff sale or the status of the proposals received. Earlier, he had reported that “five or six” plans had been submitted for review.

The sheriff sale will be held at the park.

The park was declared a charitable trust and is operated by a court-appointed board. Its job is to oversee the daily operations of the park.
