“What Mr. Pope has taken away from the community cannot ever be replaced,” Weber said after the session ended. “I doubt that he will ever be able to repay $1.5 million in restitution.” Church member Kimber Hunter, who was present in the courtroom but didn’t speak during Friday’s proceeding, described herself as being confused about how to feel following the sentencing. “He should have to come out and help the people as we rebuild,” she said.
