VERNON TOWNSHIP — Pennsylvania State Police have released a sketch of the suspect who robbed a Vernon Township convenience store earlier this week.
The Last Minit Mart at Harmonsburg Road and Route 98 was robbed at 10:43 p.m. Sunday by a heavyset white man, according to state police.
The suspect is described as 5 feet 3 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing 225 to 250 pounds, and having light-colored hair. He was wearing dark blue jeans, white shoes and a gray hooded sweatshirt, according to police.
The man entered the store and approached the cashier with one hand in the pocket of the sweatshirt as if to conceal a weapon, police said. No weapon was shown and there were no injuries.
The suspect demanded the money in the register, police said. Money was given to the robber, but police aren’t releasing the amount.
“He was very quick,” said Trooper Brian Mason, the criminal investigator handling the case.
The gray sweatshirt was found outside the store following the robbery, Mason said.
The man fled on foot east on Harmonsburg Road toward its overpass with Interstate 79.
He apparently got into a dark blue or black Chevrolet Z-71 extended cab pickup truck, Mason said. The truck is believed to be a 2000 to 2004 model.
The truck is on a raised frame with the front end lower than the back end of the vehicle, Mason said. The truck also had large fog lights on its front, he said.
Persons with information are asked to contact state police at 332-6911 or Crawford County Crime Stoppers at 337-1111.
