JOHNSTOWN — Alycia McCullough has been named Miss Greater Johnstown 2007 and will be eligible to compete in the 2007 Miss Pennsylvania Pageant.
McCullough, former Miss Crawford County 2004, is one of three out of four local women who placed in the 2007 Miss Cambria County and Miss Greater Johnstown pageants held Saturday at Richland High School in Johnstown.
Both are open pageants — meaning they are open to women ages 17 to 24 who reside, work or go to school in Pennsylvania.
Miss Greater Johnstown and Miss Cambria County are qualifiers for the Miss Pennsylvania competition, which is part of the Miss America pageant system.
There were 14 women in the competition with two crowns given — Miss Greater Johnstown, won by McCullough, and Miss Cambria County won by Brittny Sparrow of Douglassville, according to the Johnstown Tribune Democrat.
Amy Swonger, a former Miss Townville, was first runner-up in the competition, meaning she will be named if either McCullough or Sparrow relinquish their crowns.
Lucy Hazelet, a former Miss Meadville and a former Miss Moraine State Park was third runner-up.
Cassandra Wasson of Conneautville also competed in the pageant.
McCullough and Hazelet competed in the 2006 Miss Pennsylvania Pageant along with Melissa Pierce of Meadville, who was Miss Crawford County.
In addition to winning Miss Greater Johnstown, McCullough also won the talent, interview and swimsuit competitions in the pageant.
