Crawford County residents have some outstanding events to choose from this weekend, including the second annual Ethnic Festival in Meadville, the Jamestown Community Fair and the Spartansburg Fair.
Second Annual Ethnic Festival
It’s a cultural treat today from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Diamond Park. The roadway surrounding Diamond Park will be closed from Chestnut to Walnut Street and from West Center Street to Chestnut. A diverse smorgasbord of food and non-stop entertainment, artisans and children’s inflatable rides and games are sure to please everyone.

- 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. — Hotel Charlie band
- 1 to 1:30 — Allegro Dance Studio
- 1:30 to 3:30 — County Mayo Irish band
- 3:30 to 3:45 — Tsunami Dancers
- 3:45 to 4:45 — Cootie Harris Tai Chi and Drum Circle
- 4:45 to 5 — Tsunami Dancers
- 5 to 6 —Irish Step Dancers
- 6 to 7 —Olympic Dancers of Diocese of Pittsburgh (Greek)
- 7:30 to 9:30 — Loose Change band
Jamestown Community Fair
Although this fair may have started out as an agricultural project, it has blossomed into a much-anticipated community celebration. The first Jamestown Community Fair was held in 1945, and the parade, held Saturday at 1 p.m., has become the fair’s keystone event. Admission is free, but there is a charge for grandstand events. Fair board president Dane Mitchell said each year they “try to do something new and different” to improve the fair. Go to www.jamestownpa.com/fair for more information.

- 6:30 a.m. — breakfast (all you can eat) served until 11 a.m., Lions Community Center, closed until after parade
- 9 — school exhibits open to public, close at 9 p.m., closed during parade
- noon — parade formation at Jackson and Main streets
- 1 p.m. — parade moves promptly, televised live by Armstrong cable
- 2:30 — live pony rides
- 4 — ride-a-rama until close, $15
- 5 — Aaron Kelly, midway behind high school (if it rains: old gym)
- 6 — demolition derby, gate to open at 4, $6
- 8 — Kelly, midway behind high school (if rain: old gym)
- 9 — removal of exhibits until 10
- 11 — ticket drawings at fair office by 2008 fair queen
87th Spartansburg Fair
The fair closes today with a bang with a display by R and R Fireworks Inc. at 11:15 p.m.
