Frampton said the NTMA chapter is working with Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and the Precision Manufacturing Institute of Meadville to develop a one-week robot training summer camp for high school students this summer.

A survey of students who participated in the northwestern Pennsylvania chapter of the National Tooling and Machining Association’s Robobots program was extremely positive.

The survey had more than 60 student reponses and found:

- 94 percent of those who responded agreed Robobots had raised awareness of the technology and manufacturing career opportunities available in the community;

- 82 percent had a better understanding of math and science from the program;

- 76 percent would consider continuing their education in a technical field after graduation as result of the Robobots program.

Students rated their overall experience as:

- Excellent, 66 percent

- Good, 34 percent

- Fair, 0 percent

- Poor, 0 percent
