  • STAGE LISTINGS: Here's what's appearing on area stages for the week starting Nov. 21

    CHARITY FOLLIES: The Meadville Medical Center Charity Follies are Nov. 21 to 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Meadville Area Senior High School auditorium. The Nov. 21 show is an open dress rehearsal with tickets sold for $10 at the door. As organizers describe it, the Nov. 21 show is ‘no frills, no programs, probably lots of mistakes.’ For the Nov. 22 and 23 shows, tickets are $5 for kids 12 and under and $15 for adults, with four tickets for $50. Tickets are available at the Meadville Medical Center gift shops at Liberty Street and Grove Street; Jeron Jewelers, 307 Chestnut St.; and the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Road, Vernon Township. All proceeds benefit the projects of the Meadville Medical Center Auxiliary.

  • Original comedy takes stage to lighten holiday mood and aid food pantry

    The Penn State Shenango Drama Club presents “Homicidal for the Holidays,” an original comedy by local playwright and former Penn State Shenango student Anthony Elliott on Dec. 6 and 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 8 at 2:30 p.m. in the Penn State Auditorium, 147 Shenango Ave.

    The history of the regional railroad system is celebrated on Nov. 29 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. when Tom’s Train Terminal, 940 Park Ave., at Shops @TheBank, hosts a book signing event by local author Ken Springirth.

    Three free, open-to-the-public concerts at Allegheny College this weekend will showcase the talents of students, faculty and other members of the Meadville community. Student chamber ensembles perform Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Ford Chapel. The Civic Symphony performs Nov. 23 at 3 p.m. in Shafer Auditorium. And the Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble perform Nov. 24 at 3:15 p.m. in Shafer Auditorium.
