Historical society offers holiday sale and open house

CONNEAUT LAKE — A Christmas open house with inventory reduction sale is Nov. 30, Shop Local Day, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Conneaut Lake Area Historical Society Museum, 150 N. Third St., Conneaut Lake.

Some items, such as ornaments, will be reduced in price.

A new 2014 calendar with 13 color pictures of Conneaut Lake suitable for framing is available, as well as a wide variety of books, including the Ghosts of Hotel Conneaut; Arcadia books on Conneaut Lake Park, Conneaut Lake and the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad; Bronson Luty’s “The Lake as It was,” several by Don Hilton, including “Murders and Mysteries in Crawford County” and “From Florida and Back” by Alan Moss.

Available at reduced price will be a Liberty the Second commemorative book and a reprint of a 1904 book about Conneaut Lake Park will be sold at reduced rates.

A special one-day only sale of the framed gold Lexmark pictures of scenes from Conneaut Lake Park — Hotel Conneaut, Dreamland Ballroom, the Beach Club and the old bowling alley — is available that day only for $199 — a reduction of $30 from the usual price. The frame comes in cherry with red backing or pecan with ivory backing.

The museum is closed for the winter, but the open house and sale are designed to give people a chance to do Christmas shopping for Conneaut Lake gifts before the holiday.

Special tours of the museum also are available by appointment.
