Rock N Blues Concert this weekend benefits wounded veterans

MEADVILLE — The Italian Civic Club’s Operation: Wounded Vetz, the 2nd annual Rock N Blues Concert Benefit, is Saturday and benefits local wounded veterans.

The event starts with a dart run at noon for motorcycles or any wheels. Registration, for $5, is at 11 a.m. at Ranz Bar & Grill. The $5 cost includes participation in the dart run and entrance at the Italian Civic Club later that night for live entertainment.

The dart run starts at noon at Ranz before heading to Walt’s Tavern, Fatboy’s Saloon, Hunter’s Inn, J.D.’s Taphouse and ending at the ICC.

Doors are then open from 3:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the ICC for beverages, food, games of chance, a 50/50 and special raffle items.

Last year, the ICC raised more than $6,200. Of that, $5,000 went to the local W.C.J. Ranch and owner Charlie Schmitz, who provides guided hunts for combat disabled veterans.

Numerous projects were completed with the money raised last year on the ranch, and this year the club hopes to do the same. The club’s goal is to reach $10,000.

“We are trying to strongly encourage the public to join with this event,” said Alyssa Severo, ICC assistant manager, “as we are trying our hardest to raise money for our local veterans, knowing that these great human beings whom serve our country deserve the best and if we can provide it to them, we will.”

The live entertainment at the ICC includes Joe & Keith Acoustics from 4 to 5 p.m., Tom Stine’s “One Man Band” from 5 to 7 p.m., the Sofa King Cool Band from 7 to 9 p.m., Jim Felix, “Elvis Impersonator” from 9 to 11 p.m., and Double Vision from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.
