Tons of family-friendly fun across the region this weekend

MEADVILLE — In between enjoying the balloons coming and going at Robertson Athletic Complex for the Thurston Classic, there are plenty of special events set for here and across the region for Father’s Day weekend.

Meadville area

ANNUAL FLY-IN: Sunday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Port Meadville Airport. Airplane and helicopter rides available. Breakfast and lunch available from Pampered Palate. Also, balloons from Clown City Clowns, Bean Hill Flyers model airplanes, lots of pilots to talk to about flying and plenty of airplanes to see up close.

MEADVILLE MARKET HOUSE: New works by Arts for Everyone artists now on exhibit at the gallery located on the first floor of the historic Meadville Market House. Selections include works by the more than 20 A4E participating artists, including hand-spun weavings of Judy Hanninen, crystal glass sculptures by Becky Schellhaas, and the most recent creations by Carolyn Nowack and Cheree Frizzell. Also included are works by the newest A4E artists Karen Hoagland and Donna Donofrio.

MEADVILLE FINE ARTS: Exhibit of new watercolor paintings by Cathy Acker of Saegertown on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., 242 Chestnut St.

BLUES FESTIVAL: Two local bands and plenty of local wine on Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. at Conneaut Cellars Winery, 12005 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake.

ANTIQUE EQUIPMENT CLUB SUMMER SHOW: Admission is free to the event, which is Friday through Sunday at Cochranton Fairgrounds. The event includes a flea market, crafts, tractor pulls, kiddie and adult pedal pulls, exhibits, classic cars and trucks, garden tractor games and refreshments. There’s also music by the Slim Brothers on Saturday, church services on Sunday and a Cochranton Food Kitchen canned goods dropoff.
