Duck Dynasty star to speak at Erie event

ERIE — Reality TV star Willie Robertson, chief executive officer of the multimillion-dollar sporting goods empire Duck Commander, will be the guest speaker at the Manufacturer & Business Association’s 109th Annual  Event, starting at 5:30 p.m. May 17 at Erie Insurance Arena.

“Willie Robertson is the head of one of the most successful family owned businesses in operation in  America today,” said Tammy Polanski, spokeswoman for the Association. “We are thrilled to have him speak on the journey he and his family have taken to create and manage the empire it has become.” 

Robertson is best known for his reality television series on A&E’s “Duck Dynasty,” which is expected to draw a record number of viewers for its Season 5 premiere tonight and follows the lives of the Robertson family and the family business in West Monroe, La. As head of Duck Commander, Robertson took the company from a living room operation to a premiere provider of all-things outdoors. In 2006, Robertson began a new pursuit when he started Buck Commander.

Robertson and the Buckmen travel all over the country chasing white-tail deer, having a good time at  hunting camp, and creating the “Buckmen” series of DVDs and the popular TV show “Buck Commander: Protected by Under Armour” on the Outdoor Channel.

Robertson is also executive producer of both “Duck Dynasty” and “Buck Commander,” and exudes a passion for inspiring future hunters by showing the outdoor lifestyle and hunting experience in a fun and entertaining way.

Robertson and his wife, Korie, are parents to John Luke, Sadie, Will, Bella, and a foster daughter, Rebecca. 

According to the Association, the Annual Event is the tri-state region’s premier business networking  event, featuring the nation’s most prominent figures in business, politics and journalism. Among the most recent speakers were: President George H.W. Bush, President George W. Bush, Vice President Richard B. Cheney, Jack Welch and 2013 keynote speaker Carly Fiorina.
