‘WIZARD OF OZ’: French Creek Community Theater presents ‘Wizard of Oz,’ the classic family musical, Nov. 7 to 9 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at the Academy Theatre. Tickets: Visit or at the door of the show.


‘THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW’: The Ashtabula Arts Center opens the 2013–14 G. B. Community Theatre season with the favorite cult classic, ‘The Rocky Horror Show.’ The final performances are Oct. 18 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 19 at 2. EDINBORO PERFORMING ARTS SERIES: The fall 2013 semester’s Performing Arts Series is free to Edinboro University students. There is a fee for all others. The following is the schedule for the performing arts series: Oct. 23 to 27, ‘Avenue Q’ by Robert Lopez, Jeff Marx and Jeff Whitty. Performances by Green and Redbone begin at 7:30 p.m. in Louis C. Cole Auditorium, Memorial Hall. ‘Avenue Q’ will be staged in Diebold Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. nightly with a 2:30 p.m. matinee on Oct. 27. More information: Visit

‘CARRIE: The MUSICAL’: Stephen King’s bestselling novel takes center stage at the Erie Playhouse on Oct. 17 through 20 and 23 through 27. Wednesday through Saturday showtimes are 7:30 p.m. and Sunday showtimes are at 2. Set in the small town of Chamberlain, Maine, Carrie White, a misfit, is bullied at school by the popular crowd and is at the mercy of her loving, but over-protective mother. As the bullying escalates, Carrie discovers her special telekinetic powers and if pushed too far is not afraid to use them. ‘LES MISERABLES’: Grove City College presents the musical from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2 in Ketler Auditorium of the Pew Fine Arts Center on campus. Performances begin at 7:30 p.m. each night. The musical is free and open to the public. The Nov. 1 and 2 performances are already sold out via on-campus reservations. Tickets for the Oct. 29 through 31 performances must be reserved in advance at Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets only reserve seats until 7:15 p.m., at which time all empty seats are released to walk-ins. CHRISTMAS CONCERT: The Saegertown Area Community Choir is looking for area singers to join rehearsals for the sixth annual Christmas concert on Dec. 7 at 7 p.m. at Christ Evangelical Free Church, 19682 Hill Road, Saegertown. Rehearsals are Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. at the church. ‘POTTER POTTER, THE UNAUTHORIZED HARRY EXPERIENCE’: A Harry Potter parody returns to the PlayhouseSquare in Cleveland on Oct. 25 through 27 as part of the U.S. Bank Star Performance Series. ‘Potted Potter’ takes on the challenge of condensing, or “potting,” all seven Harry Potter books into 70 madcap minutes, aided only by multiple costume changes, songs and props. The show also invites audiences to engage with a real life game of Quidditch. Performance times are 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 25, 1:30 and 7:30 on Oct. 26 and 1:30 on Oct. 27. AMERICA’S GOT TALENT LIVE TOUR: Fans of America’s Got Talent TV show have an opportunity to experience their favorite Season 8 acts when the America’s Got Talent Live tour comes to PlayhouseSquare’s State Theatre on Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. Scheduled to appear in more than 30 cities across the country, the show will bring the acts that wowed America to Cleveland, allowing fans to experience the very best talent from the TV show up close and personal. CHILDREN’S THEATER SERIES: Taking place at PlayhouseSquare in Cleveland, with a season ticket price of $40 for four shows to introduce children to live theater. The 2013-14 Children’s Theater Series includes ‘Me and My Shadow,’ on Nov. 2; ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Eric Carle Favorites’ on Jan. 18, 2014; ‘DiNO-Light’ on Feb. 8, 2014; and ‘Pinocchio’ on May 10, 2014. Families that purchase season tickets for the series can choose to participate in workshops held on the same days as the performances. These interactive workshops are led by professional teaching artists and feature opportunities to learn songs and dance steps, create performances and music and much more. ‘WICKED’: One of Cleveland’s most popular musicals, ‘Wicked,’ returns to PlayhouseSquare Dec. 4 to Jan. 5, 2014, as part of the KeyBank Broadway Series at PlayhouseSquare. The untold story of the witches of Oz, ‘Wicked’ is based on the best-selling 1995 novel by Gregory Maguire. Performances will be Tuesdays through Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 1 and 6:30 p.m. Due to the holidays there will be no performances on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1. Additional performances are Dec. 5 at 2 p.m., Dec. 23 at 8 and Dec. 30 at 8.
