Skeletal remains found along French Creek in Meadville

MEADVILLE — Skeletal remains of a human male were found along French Creek in the vicinity of Spring Street and Lincoln Avenue in the City of Meadville’s Fifth Ward late Wednesday afternoon, according to Crawford County Coroner Scott Schell.

Schell reported Wednesday night that the remains indicate the male was approximately 35 years of age or younger. Schell said he believes the remains could have been in that location for about five to six months. The body was transported to the county morgue for further testing.

Schell indicated that the male’s identity may be known, but Schell would not elaborate.

County emergency services received a call around 4:59 p.m. before authorities were sent to the location to investigate.

Meadville Police Department is currently investigating and would not provide any further information at this time.
