Scam falsely using name of local hospital

MEADVILLE — A phone scam is falsely using the name of a local hospital.

People across the county report receiving calls from people claiming to be Meadville Medical Center staff members offering an emergency call system.

In this call the person, who is in no way affiliated with Meadville Medical Center, asks for shipping and handling to be paid to receive the emergency call system.

Those who receive this call are urged to not give any personal information and to contact Meadville Medical Center at 333-5000 to report having received the call.
