NEW LOCAL: Woman jailed for fire in police holding cell

MEADVILLE — A woman initially jailed on a public drunkenness charge now faces multiple felony arson charges for allegedly setting a fire in a holding cell early this morning at Meadville Police Department.

Diana L. Simons, 58, of 303 Park Place, Meadville, was arraigned at 9:45 a.m. by Meadville Police on two first-degree felony counts of arson endangering persons, and one count each of arson endangering property, causing or risking a catastrophe, institutional vandalism, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief and public drunkenness.

There were no injuries in the incident and damage was confined to the holding cell, according to police.
