Cochranton captures historic district basketball title

SLIPPERY ROCK — For the first time in more than three decades, the Cochranton boys basketball team is a District 10 champion.

The Cardinals (21-3) beat Erie First Christian Academy 69-54 in the District 10 Class A title game on Friday night at Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.

Cochranton now advances to the PIAA tournament, which begins next week. The Cards' next opponent and the site and time have yet to be determined.

Erie First dropped to 15-9 on the season.

Cochranton's girls are also after a district basketball title. They play Kennedy Catholic on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Meadville Area Senior High School's House of Thrills.
