Area is under flood watch through Friday morning

MEADVILLE — Crawford and Erie counties are under a flood watch through Friday morning, according to the National Weather Service Office in Cleveland.

The ground is saturated from rains of the last several days and any additional rainfall may cause flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain will end across northeast Ohio and northwest Pennsylvania as a front moves west to east. However, runoff from any heavy rain may cause flooding problems tonight.

French Creek at the Mercer Street Bridge in Meadville measured 7.03 feet in depth at 1 p.m. The creek is forecast to crest at 12.3 feet early Saturday morning — a little less than 2 feet below the flood stage of 14 feet.
