Two Meadville men in custody for alleged gun shop robbery

State police took two Meadville men into custody on Friday after they reportedly confessed to robbing Hook’s Gun Shop in Fairview Township, Erie County, on Dec. 28.

Ryan E. Rutter, 21, and Brandon McWilliams, 24, allegedly entered the business at approximately 12:20 a.m. and removed numerous firearms.

Meadville police provided a lead to state police, which led them and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive to conduct interviews with both of the accused.

The suspects reportedly cooperated in the recovery of the stolen firearms, according to state police.

Rutter was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Denise Stuck-Lewis and was released on $50,000 unsecured bond, while McWilliams remains in Crawford County jail on unrelated charges, police said.
