Meadville Council on the Arts' Regional Juried Photo Exhibit opens Friday the Heeschen Gallery (second floor of the Market House) and runs through May 24. The photography show features photographs from artists living with 250 miles of Meadville. The public is invited to a reception on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. when the awards will be announced.

The photography by jurors Kathleen Nies and John Bishop will also be showcased. Nies’ photographs entail finding images from a different perspective, something interesting that has gone unnoticed by others passing by. Bishop has been a photographer for 30 years, capturing a variety of subjects including nature, children, abstracts, abandoned buildings and nearly everything in between.

The photo exhibit is open to the public during gallery hours on Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
