Authorities investigating shooting incident near Cochranton

COCHRANTON — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a shooting incident in the area of Franklin Pike north of Cochranton.

Police had called for fire police from Cochranton Volunteer Fire Department to close Franklin Pike between Hart Road and Route 173 around 11:25 a.m. However, state police cleared fire police personnel to leave around 11:45 a.m.

A state police dispatcher at the Meadville barracks said additional information was to be made available later today.

The Crawford County Coroner’s Office confirmed there was some type of shooting call, but Scott Schell, county coroner, confirmed that the coroner’s office had not sent any personnel to the scene or been contacted by police.
